recalled by Generalissimo Chang by wire to serve the Kuomintang and the Nationalist Government. After a stay in Wuchang and Hankow for about a month, he left Hankow for Canton on the 18th January. We now publish the following conversation which took place between Dr. Hung and our

reporters:

QUESTION: I am told that the Central Political Council has resolved to appoint you as Minister of Industry and Acting Commissioner of the Treasury. Have you received such

news?

ANSWER: Since I was recalled from America, I have been strongly urged by my colleague Chang and other prominent officials of the Nationalist Government to assist them. late I learn that Generalissimo Chang has proposed, and the Central Political Council has approved, the appointment of me as Minister of Industry and Deputy Commissioner of Finance in Kwangtung. I have also been entrusted by Minister Soong with charge of all affairs at the rear in regard to the Ministry of Finance and Treasury prior to the transference of that Ministry to the North. But I have not yet received any official telegram from the Political Council, and I am not in a position to fix any definite date to take up my

posts.

QUESTION: Will the Ministry of Industry be organised

in Canton or at the front?

ANSWER: As the Ministry of Industry is a new establish ment resolved upon by the Nationalist Government, it will be first organised in Canton for the time being, and it may be removed later when necessary to the place where the Central

Government is located.

QUESTION: What are your views about the new Ministry
